Lead Carpenter/Site supervisor
O’Brien Wood & Iron is a full-service building company specializing in new construction, additions, remodels, restorations, and custom woodworking. Based in Portland, Maine, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality craftsmanship with exceptional customer service and attention to detail. We are currently looking for a Lead Carpenter/Site Supervisor to join our growing team.
The right candidate will have:
6 years (minimum) of experience in custom residential construction, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
expert knowledge of framing, finish carpentry, and general construction techniques
strong communication skills and ability to work professionally with clients, crew members, and subcontractors
ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and maintain a positive jobsite culture
excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
reliable, construction-appropriate transportation
a Maine Driver’s License in good standing

Compensation:
This is a full-time position (35-40 hours per week) offering:
Competitive Pay: Commensurate with experience
Paid Time-Off: Up to 80 hours in the first year, increasing with tenure
8 Paid Holidays (plus 4 additional days between Christmas and New Year’s): New Year’s Day, MLK, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving + Friday after, Christmas

a minimum of 2 years experience in custom residential construction, from frame to finish;
the ability to climb ladders and carry at least 80 pounds;
excellent communication skills;
an excellent attitude, work ethic, an eye for detail and the ability to work as part of a team;
a basic complement of hand tools;
reliable, construction-appropriate transportation; and
a Maine Driver’s License in good standing.

Project Manager - Residential Construction
O’Brien Wood & Iron is a full-service building company that handles new construction, additions, remodels, renovations, restorations, and custom woodworking. We are based in Portland, Maine, and our focus is on providing excellent customer service and high quality craftsmanship with great attention to detail. We are looking for a Project Manager to join our growing team.
The right candidate will have:
6-10 years in the construction industry (residential preferred) with a strong understanding of the entire building process;
experience developing job estimates from construction documents and creating project scheduled, including scheduling subcontractors;
an excellent attitude, work ethic, eye for detail, and the ability to work as part of a team;

the ability to work independently with excellent time management skills
excellent communication skills and the ability to calmly/professionally resolve any issues;
experience using project management software (BuilderTrend); and
a Maine Driver’s License in good standing.
